Officially Licensed by Ford and only available through this website.
Prior to Ford's introduction of the 428 Cobra Jet engine in April 1968, dual-exhaust Mustangs were only available with 2-inch diameter exhaust systems. But with the new power-plant also came new exhaust, and for the first time, 428 CJ equipped Mustangs were now available with a new 2.25-inch, better-breathing, exhaust system. And with that change, the muffler changed from a 2-inch inlet and outlet design, to a 2.25-inch inlet and outlet design. The part number and logo changed from a C8ZA-5230-C to an ED-C8ZA-5230-E for 1968½ and from FoMoCo to Ford logo. In 1969 the part number changed again to C9ZA-5230-L (CJ/SCJ/B429/B302).
Every feature of the original 1969 muffler is captured in the reproduction. Same lock-seam/double-wrap design. End-caps with 2.25-O.D. inlet and outlet pipes. Exact reproduction of alignment notches in inlet pipes (two-different sizes, just like the originals). Adapters welded on each inlet and outlet pipe, just like the originals. And, exact copy of Ford logo, part number and date stamping (taken from original mufflers). All dimensions and features confirmed through original assembly line Ford muffler inspection and original Ford engineering drawings.
There are four date coded 1969 mufflers available. 8/68, 11/68, 1/69, and 3/69.
Offered here for the first time is the correct 2.25-inch transverse muffler for 1969 CJ/SCJ and Boss 429/Boss 302.
